That’s it! No more signings! I’ve brought Babayaro to the club on a free transfer to shore up the defence and take the pressure off the inexperienced Parker and Sheehan at left back in what I intend (we’ve heard that before) to be the last transfer this year, especially considering I’m now over budget on contracts.
Snodin picked up on the fact that the Nigerian international, formerly at Chelsea and Newcastle, was available on a free transfer following a failed trial at Los Angeles. He’s costing me £2,500 per week, with an additional £1,300 per appearance until 2011 but I’m confident his experience he’ll prove himself to be worth the money. Unfortunately, the fans seem to be less taken by a player who often has a disruptive influence (you only need to look at his “outspoken, volatile and confrontational” media handling style to see that) and are worried on his effect on our already fragile team harmony.
At 31, Celestine isn’t getting any younger but he still retains a decent amount of speed (acc 12, pace 12) and physical presence (fitness 10, stamina 12, strength 12) and is all round better than either Parker or Sheehan, which the coaches agree with giving him a 3 star rating.
I’m also interested to see how he gets on with Omozusi, who has recently chosen Nigeria over England as his declared nation and the two are returning from international duty together as I type.
